Hartenberg Merlot 2015 - Stellenbosch WO - 75cl

The Hartenberg winemaker Carl Schultz won the “Winemaker of the Year” award from Diners Club for the very fine 2004 Estate Merlot. This achievement was surpassed when the 2005 Estate Merlot was named World’s Best at the 2008 International Wine and Spirit Competition.

TASTING NOTES

Red fruit, dried plum and cranberries on the nose with hints of mint and dried herbs. Elegant palate with silky tannins and an elegant long finish.

IN THE CELLAR

Barrel Ageing in 18 months in French oak, 45% new, 40% 2nd fill, the balance in older French oak barrels.

FOOD PAIRING

Merlot pairs well with a range of foods. Panko crumbed pork with mustard cream sauce, roasted tomato pasta or a juicy hamburger with cheddar cheese topping..
